Two types of patent application can be filed in Russia:
a National Patent Application, filed with the Russian Patent and Trademark Office, for a patent valid in Russia
a Regional Patent Application, filed with the Eurasian Patent Office, for a patent valid throughout Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
